The University of Rome Tor Vergata achieved an outstanding result at the 21st edition of Formula SAE Italy, held at the “R. Paletti” Autodrome in Varano de’ Melegari, in the province of Parma.

The international educational event, organised by ANFIA (Italian Association of the Automotive Industry) in partnership with SAE International, the “R. Paletti” Autodrome and the Motor Valley Association, brought together around 1,600 students from 13 countries. A total of 51 teams competed, including 42 from the European Union – among them 22 Italian teams representing 21 different universities – and nine teams from outside Europe.

The competition rewards student teams across different categories, assessing the level of development, technological innovation and performance of their vehicles and projects. In Class 3, dedicated to the presentation and evaluation of the vehicle project without a physical prototype, STV – Scuderia Tor Vergata, the University of Rome Tor Vergata’s student racing team, secured an impressive second-place finish overall.

The result represents a significant national achievement and highlights the commitment of the University of Rome Tor Vergata and its students to developing innovative technologies and applying advanced engineering skills to real-world challenges in the automotive sector.

Formula SAE Italy also featured competitions for internal-combustion vehicles (Class 1 CV), electric vehicles (Class 1 EV) and driverless cars (Class 1 DV), providing students with an opportunity to put their technical, engineering and project-management expertise to the test in a highly competitive international environment.

The second-place finish at Formula SAE Italy 2026 is a further testament to the talent, dedication and innovative spirit of the students of the University of Rome Tor Vergata, and to the value of combining academic education with hands-on engineering experience.
