We are pleased to announce that Marco Evangelos Biancolini has had his abstract accepted for presentation at the NAFEMS World Congress 2025. This prestigious event will take place from May 19 to May 22, 2025, in Salzburg, Austria.
The presentation, titled Integrated Multi-Physics Optimization of Automotive Road Wheels Using Advanced Mesh Morphing and AI, represents a collaborative effort involving the Nissan Motor Corporation Technical Centre Europe, RBF Morph, and the University of Rome Tor Vergata. The research focuses on a multi-physics optimization approach to automotive road wheel design, addressing three critical areas:
- Styling: Achieving a balance between aesthetic appeal and brand identity.
- Structural Performance: Enhancing durability, noise-vibration-harshness (NVH), and handling characteristics through finite element analysis (FEA).
- Aerodynamics: Reducing drag to improve efficiency, particularly for electric vehicles (EVs), using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations.
The innovative methods employed in this study include advanced mesh morphing for high-fidelity geometry updates, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and reduced-order models (ROMs) for accelerated design optimization, and the use of the rbfCAE platform for seamless FEA (via NX Nastran) and CFD (via HELYX) integration. By leveraging AI/ROM-driven approaches, the research achieves a balanced optimization of performance and aesthetics, surpassing traditional methods.
The NAFEMS World Congress is the premier international conference dedicated to engineering simulation. Attendees can expect over 300 technical presentations spread across 80 sessions, insights from leading software vendors, specialized training courses and workshops, panel discussions with NAFEMS Technical Groups, and the largest exhibition of hardware and software for simulation. The event also provides unparalleled networking opportunities, culminating in the highly anticipated World Congress Gala Dinner.
This congress is an unmissable platform for exploring groundbreaking technologies, engaging with industry leaders, and fostering connections among end-users, software vendors, consultants, and academics.
